EXIT agents hold October Food Drive

Two Exit sale representatives, Shana Fellows & Julie Jenkins who try to concentrate sales in Sarnia's Sherwood Village organized their 2nd community event of 2011 just a few weeks ago. Sherwood Village is located near Lambton College & has over 1600 homes in the subdivision.

The 1st event they organized together was a Neighbourhood Garage Sale the 1st weekend of June.  It was extremely successful with over 75 homes participating in selling used goods on their property. Approx 300-400 people  from all over Sarnia flooded the streets of Sherwood Village to shop the different garage sales.  Shana Fellows & Julie Jenkins received lots of positive feedback from the community & we've very pleased with how well the 1st annual event went.

With the success of the neighbourhood garage sale the sales representatives thought to organize something else to bring Sherwood Village together. And with that, the idea of Helping Families in need came to light. With so many articles & publicity about how the Inn of the Good Shepherd struggles during different times of the year, it was an easy choice.  Shana & Julie sent out flyers alerting the subdivision to the upcoming event & had large posters put up at 2 out of the 3 entrances to the neighbourhood to remind peopleof the upcoming date. They called upon high school students who now require community service hours in order to graduate to help them collect the canned food on the day of the event. Together with 10 students the morning of the event, they went knocking door to door  & street to street collecting canned goods.  Both agents were thrilled with the amount of people who were prepared with bags of food pre-purchased & participated at the door. The agents had no idea how much food to expect & the biggest hurdle of the day was storing all the food throughout the day. Next year the Inn of the good Shepherd says they'll provide a truck, because they as well had no idea the amount of food they would collect either. The day was a huge success & over 2300 lbs of food was brought to the Inn at the end of the day. Shana & Julie are looking forward to the 2nd annual Food Drive in 2012. (Below is one of 2 articles the Sarnia Observer wrote about the event)
